Deep space is not just a place for astronauts and asteroids. In the fall of 2013, the so called “final frontier” will attract thousands of America’s best and brightest civilians. Once there, they’ll be making it their temporary home for four days. Would you like to join them? If so, read on: Just in case you haven’t heard of it before, Deep Space is actually the name of this year’s Epic Systems Users’ Group Meeting. It is scheduled to take place September 16th through September 19th, 2013 at the company’s campus in Verona. As such, space suits, astronaut ice cream foil packs and all references to Star Trek or Captain Kirk are purely optional. The annual meeting is designed for those working in the healthcare industry and it’s expected to cover a lot of ground this year. The illustrious guest speakers scheduled to participate in the informative sessions hail from around the country. Some of the tongue in cheek session titles are Helping Providers Lost in HyperspaceThe Virtual Patient: Centered Medical Home and Overcoming Space with a Remote Command Center. Collectively, the sessions will cover such fascinating topics as pan-hospital remote viewing, proven ACO strategies, ED metrics, sepsis surveillance and tips for reducing readmission rates. If you do decide to answer the call and attend the Deep Space meeting, be sure to enjoy all that the area has to offer. There are quirky museums, palate pleasing restaurants, quaint shops and more on offer.
